Innovation with respect to inspection of flood defenses is accelerating. At the IJkdijk facility breach tests in test embankments are carried out on a regular basis, leading to new knowledge. Now also the LiveDijk Eemshaven writes history by making the progress of innovation in and around flood defenses more tangible: online data of sensors in dikes are now available for real-time viewing online.

Test levee breach measurable as much as 42 hours in advance

Dutch levee experts stick more than a finger in the dike

At the end of September a levee will collapse as part of an experiment in Groningen's Bellingwedde. A water barrier six metres high and a hundred metres long will collapse under an extremely high water level.
