Education

The IJkdijk foundation sets out to generate interest in the themes of water management and water quality in the education sector. An initial step was taken during a theme week at a secondary school in Delfzijl. Pupils could build their own sensors and place them in small levee models. Enthusiastic pupils and teachers produced outstanding results. The next step is to set up and develop a water management theme brochure for the education sector and a visualisation model that introduces children to various technologies as they play.

The IJkdijk foundation will continuously involve education in the project, based on:
• A work placement plaza for higher professional education institutes and universities, both for assignments in the project and for related assignments with participating companies;
• A lesson package for secondary schools, including a visit to the IJkdijk locations;
• Assignments for Master's students and the provision of research data to PhD candidates.

Deltares Academy

Deltares Academy is Deltares’ (one of the IJkdijk participants) educational facility in the field of geo- and hydraulic engineering by means of international courses, masterclasses  and ICT facilities. More information.
